Last time I was at Trader Joe’s, I spotted this new item – Whole Wheat Penne Pasta with Meatballs.

And because I’m Element Girl, I must try any and all pasta.  It’s in their pre-packaged foods section, so it doesn’t need to be refrigerated or kept frozen.  That’s the Number 1 ‘yay’ for those times you’re on the go.  There’s an overabundance of pre-packaged on-the-go foods on the grocery shelves, but an underwhelming amount of them are edible.  I had high hopes for this.

Number 2 – It was unbelievably simple to make.  Take it out of the box, peel back the corner of the plastic, zap in the microwave for 3 minutes.   Even a cooking challenged gal like me managed to figure it out.

Number 3 – I’m usually leery of boxed, ready made foods, especially pasta and meatballs, but I was pleasantly surprised.  It doesn’t trump homemade pasta by any means, but for a pre-packaged food, it was surprisingly tasty.

Number 4- It’s got whole wheat pasta, and the meatballs are made from “natural beef.”

This was the finished product right out of the microwave.  Moments after I cursed to no one in particular because I had burned my finger taking it out of the microwave.  I really must learn to exhibit some patience when it comes to food.

I have a parmesan cheese addiction.  I put it on everything.  I wonder if they’ve got a Parmesan Anonymous Group.
